Ison Search

Ison Search (search.isonai.com) is a curated Indonesian search engine. It stands on its own as a public search engine, and also serves as a grounding source for the IsonAI assistant on Indonesian topics.

What sets it apart

  • Indonesian content focus with credibility tiering: government sites, trusted media, encyclopedias, and academic sources are prioritized above the general web.
  • Combined search — keyword and meaning (semantic) — so it understands Indonesian synonyms and typos.
  • Spam filtering and continuous quality curation.
  • Privacy-first: no user tracking, no ads or tracking pixels; favicons are served self-hosted; query logs are stored anonymously with automatic deletion.

Scale

Ison Search indexes millions of curated Indonesian web pages, with an emphasis on trusted sources and content freshness. The service is in public alpha and still under active development.

Relationship with IsonAI chat

When you ask about Indonesian topics in chat, IsonAI can refer to the Ison Search index, which prioritizes authoritative local sources — making answers more accurate and cited to the right sources. Global search is still used alongside it for international topics.

For site owners

The Ison Search crawler identifies itself with a clear user-agent and respects robots rules. Webmaster information is available at search.isonai.com/bot.

Limits

  • Coverage is focused on the Indonesian web; foreign-language queries on non-Indonesian topics are a better fit for global engines — inside chat, IsonAI combines both automatically.
  • As a still-growing service, coverage of specific domains keeps expanding.

Data sources & attribution

Place data in Ison Places is drawn from several open databases and then processed further by IsonAI.

  • Foursquare Open Source Places — Apache License 2.0.
  • Overture Maps Foundation (overturemaps.org) — Places theme, CDLA Permissive 2.0.
  • OpenStreetMap — © OpenStreetMap contributors, under ODbL.

The map background on the results page is derived from OpenStreetMap and Natural Earth data.

Changes we make

The data is not served as-is. IsonAI merges entries from different sources that refer to the same place into a single entity, adds a popularity signal derived from IsonAI's own Indonesian web corpus, flags places that appear to have closed, and applies freshness rules before reporting open/closed status.
