EPITHRE. CLI

EPITHRE. CLI is a coding agent that runs in your terminal. It can read and edit project files, run commands, and work through multi-step programming tasks, using models from EPITHRE. Platform with your own API key.

Requirements

  • Windows 10 or 11 with PowerShell (built into Windows), Linux (x64 or arm64), or macOS (Apple Silicon or Intel). Linux and macOS need curl, bash, and tar (usually already installed).
  • An EPITHRE. Platform API key — create one at platform.epithre.com. See Developers & API.
  • An internet connection to api.epithre.com.

Installation

Windows — open PowerShell and run:

irm https://docs.isonai.com/downloads/epithre-cli/pasang-epithre-cli.ps1 | iex

Linux and macOS — open a terminal and run:

curl -fsSL https://docs.isonai.com/downloads/epithre-cli/pasang-epithre-cli.sh | sh

The installer will:

  1. Download EPITHRE. CLI and its engine (once, about 1–2 minutes).
  2. Ask for your API key (input is hidden) and verify it against EPITHRE. Platform.
  3. Save settings and register the epithre command.
  4. Run a short test and a health check.

The API key is not embedded in the installer script; it is only stored on your computer. If you prefer to review the script first, download pasang-epithre-cli.ps1 (Windows) or pasang-epithre-cli.sh (Linux/macOS), read it, then run it with powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\pasang-epithre-cli.ps1 or sh pasang-epithre-cli.sh.

On Linux and macOS, you can install non-interactively by setting the EPITHRE_API_KEY environment variable before running the installer.

Basic usage

Open a new terminal (so the epithre command is recognized), go to your project folder, and run:

epithre
Command What it does
epithre Opens an interactive session in the current folder.
epithre -p "question" A single question without an interactive session; prints the answer and exits.
epithre update Updates EPITHRE. CLI now.
epithre doctor Checks the installation, settings, and version compatibility.
/model (inside a session) Switches the model.

Before taking an action, the CLI assesses its risk: safe actions run automatically, risky ones are held back. You can switch the approval mode with Shift+Tab inside a session. Review changes before you commit or deploy.

Put project-specific instructions in an EPITHRE.md file at the project root; the CLI reads it as context.

Models

Model Best for
epithre-prme (default) Coding and reasoning work; long context; text input.
epithre-omni General and multimodal tasks; can read images.
epithre-lyt Quick, lightweight questions.

Your model choice is kept until you change it again with /model.

Updates

EPITHRE. CLI checks for a new version once a day when it starts. If one is available, it is installed before the session begins and you see the version message. Settings, session history, and your API key are not touched by updates. To update at any time, run epithre update.

After an update, epithre doctor automatically confirms your settings still match the new version; any warnings are shown in the terminal.

File locations

Location Contents
%LOCALAPPDATA%\epithre\ (Windows), ~/.local/share/epithre/ (Linux/macOS) The program (engine and launcher).
%LOCALAPPDATA%\epithre\bin\ (Windows), ~/.local/bin/epithre (Linux/macOS) The epithre command.
%USERPROFILE%\.epithre\ (Windows), ~/.epithre/ (Linux/macOS) Settings, API key, session history, and the update log.
EPITHRE.md in your project Project-specific instructions (optional).

On Linux and macOS, if ~/.local/bin is not on your PATH yet, the installer adds it to your shell startup file (~/.zshrc, ~/.bashrc, ~/.bash_profile, or ~/.profile) with an # epithre-cli marker.

Cost and data

  • Every request is sent to api.epithre.com with your API key and is billed per token at the rates on platform.epithre.com. File contents the agent reads to answer are sent as part of the request.
  • Session history is stored locally on your computer (the .epithre folder in your home directory).
  • CLI usage statistics are turned off by default.
  • Commits and pull requests created through the CLI get no automatic attribution line.

Uninstalling

Close all epithre sessions. On Windows, run in PowerShell:

Remove-Item -Recurse -Force "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\epithre", "$env:USERPROFILE\.epithre"
$p = [Environment]::GetEnvironmentVariable("Path", "User") -split ";" | Where-Object { $_ -notlike "*\epithre\bin" }
[Environment]::SetEnvironmentVariable("Path", ($p -join ";"), "User")

On Linux and macOS:

rm -rf ~/.local/share/epithre ~/.epithre ~/.local/bin/epithre

Then remove the two lines marked # epithre-cli from your shell startup file, if present.

Removing the .epithre folder also deletes the API key and local session history. The API key stays active on EPITHRE. Platform until you revoke it from the dashboard.

Troubleshooting

  • epithre is not recognized / command not found — open a new terminal window after installing.
  • Key rejected — check the key in the platform.epithre.com dashboard, then run the installer again (old settings are backed up automatically).
  • Update failed — see engine-install.log in the .epithre folder, then run epithre update.
  • epithre doctor shows warnings — run epithre update; if they persist, run the installer again.
  • Previous installation detected (Windows) — the installer offers to move the old settings to a backup in %USERPROFILE%\.epithre\ before continuing.

EPITHRE. CLI is built on open-source components. License texts for third-party components are included in the installed program folder.
