# Documents & Doc Edit

IsonAI reads the documents you attach and — for PDFs specifically — can **edit** them right from the conversation.

## Reading documents

Attach a document and ask questions about it: a summary, finding a specific clause, comparing versions, or analyzing tables. Formats and limits are detailed in [Attachments & uploads](/en/attachments/) — PDF (including scans via OCR), DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, RTF, ODT/ODS/ODP, EPUB, CSV, up to 25 MB per file. Charts inside documents are understood too.

Examples:

- "Ringkas kontrak ini dan tandai klausul yang merugikan penyewa."
- "Dari XLSX ini, produk mana yang marginnya di bawah 10%?"
- "Cari syarat pengajuan di dokumen panduan ini, halaman berapa?"

## Doc Edit: editing PDFs

Attach a PDF, describe the edits you want, and download the result — no dedicated PDF software needed.

What it can do:

- **Fill forms** (AcroForm) — "isi formulir ini dengan data berikut: …"
- **Replace text** — "ganti nama John menjadi Jane di seluruh dokumen", including in **scanned PDFs** via OCR on the detected text positions.
- **Insert photos** — for example a passport photo into a designated box.
- **Add signatures** that blend cleanly into the page.

How to use it:

1. Attach the PDF in chat (maximum **20 MB** for editing).
2. Write your edit instructions specifically.
3. IsonAI makes the edits, then provides a download card with a link to the resulting file.

## Result file rules

- Download links are valid for **48 hours** and are accessible only to the account that uploaded the file.
- **The original document is always kept as a backup** — edits never overwrite your source file.
- Edited results are visually verified before delivery; if a request cannot be executed cleanly, IsonAI says so.

## Important: editing only on request

Attaching a PDF does not automatically trigger editing. Without instructions, IsonAI asks what you want to do. Editing only runs on an explicit request.

## Limits

- Sizes: 25 MB for reading, 20 MB for editing.
- OCR on low-quality scans can misdetect positions/characters — check results on official documents.
- Very complex layouts (intricate columns, decorative elements) can limit the precision of text replacement.
- Formats other than PDF can be read but cannot yet be edited.
