# Deep Research

**Deep Research** is a deep research mode inside IsonAI chat: it investigates many web sources across several rounds, then distills them into a comprehensive answer with references in the Sources panel.

## How to activate it

Deep Research **only activates when explicitly requested** — it is not a side effect of long questions, complex comparisons, or [Thinking Deep](/en/thinking/).

- Open [isonai.net/research](https://isonai.net/research) and ask your question; or
- Ask clearly in chat: "riset mendalam tentang…", "buatkan laporan komprehensif tentang…", or "deep research…".

The **Research** button in the sidebar opens a choice page: quick research inside chat (IsonAI Research) or full academic research in the [Ison Slate](/en/slate/) workspace.

## How it works

1. **Planning** — the question is broken down into the aspects that need answering.
2. **Staged search** — several rounds of searching and reading sources; a completeness critic decides whether gaps remain that need further searching.
3. **Synthesis** — the answer is composed as a flowing, complete report, with references in the Sources panel (not numbered footnotes in the body text).

The process takes longer than a normal answer — typically several minutes — and progress is visible while it runs.

## Quota

Deep Research has a daily usage limit based on your account plan. Plan details are in [Plans & quota](/en/plans/) and at [isonai.net/support](https://www.isonai.net/support).

## Limits

- Report quality depends on the web sources available; important claims are still worth checking from the source links.
- Deep Research is designed for topics that genuinely need many sources; for simple questions, normal chat is faster and just as accurate.
